Materials:

Lion Brand "A Star is Born - Oh Baby Organic" 100% cotton yarn (1.75 oz / 50 g; 180 yd / 165 m; #2 Fingering weight yarn) 62 yd in color Turquoise

US 3 / 3.25 mm knitting needles

Tapestry Needle

Scissors

Measures: 8.5" x 8.5" / 21.5 cm x 21.5 cm

Gauge: Using pattern stitch - 6 repeat rows x 4.5 repeat stitch patterns = 4"

Notes: This block is easily adaptable to any size - the pattern works in multiples of 5 + 2.

The cabling of this stitch is achieved by working slipped stitches, yarn overs and passing slipped stitches over knit stitches. There is no cable needle needed :)

Abbreviations & stitches used:

Bind off

K:  Knit

Kfb:  Knit front and back

Long tail cast on

Psso:  Pass slipped stitch over

P:  Purl

Rep:  Repeat

RS:  Right side

Cast on 53 using long-tail cast on method

Knit 3 rows

  1. RS: K3, p2, *sl 1, k2, psso, p2; rep * to last 3 sts, k3

  2. WS: K5, *p1, yo, p1, k2; rep * to last 3 sts, k3

  3. K3, *p2, k3; rep * to end

  4. K5, *p3, k2; rep * to last 3 sts, k3

Repeat rows 1 - 4 eleven more times

Repeat row 1 once more

WS: K5, *k1, kfb, k2; rep * to last 3 sts, k3

Knit 2 rows

Bind off knit wise
